Is it possible to reuse the yarn from old sweaters that noone uses anymore? I wondered what are the knit garments my friends and family have left behind? Why did they not use it anymore?

I collected garments and tried to discover the reasons and stories why those sweaters, hats and other knit garments were left behind in the back of the closet.

The Sweater Project wants to give the material a new life and hereby creating a new garment to use and love again.

Collecting stagnant knit garments

Sweater from my aunt. My aunt got the sweater from a friend who hand knitted it. My aunt stopped using the sweater because she got tired of the ornaments and left it behind in the closet.

Cap from my sister.  My sister found the hand knitted cap in a secondhand store, she bought it because she thought it was funny but never used it.

Remaking of sweater

Just because a sweater becomes out of fashion the material is still usable. With this project I want to give the existing materials a second life and minimize waste.
